Street Value

A roguelite deckbuilder about a debt you can't afford

About the game

You owe the Shark, and you have thirty days. Street Value is a roguelite deckbuilder about dealing across seven gritty New York neighborhoods with one deck of cards.

Every day you draw six cards, work the market, and move on before the heat catches up. Hustle cards bend the market: buy in bulk, hype a price, haggle, fence hot goods. Street cards get you out alive when Detective Hardass comes around the corner: sprint, juke, take cover, go up the fire escape. A Hustle card is dead weight in a chase, and a Street card makes you nothing on the corner, so every card you draft is a bet on profit or on getting away.

Rival crews want your corners. Fight them with your whole deck and their neighborhood becomes your turf. On day 30, whoever holds your marker comes to collect. Break them and the debt is gone. Then comes the real question: walk away with your street value, or take Kingpin's Gambit, seven more days with every cop in the city after you, for a multiplied score or nothing at all.

History

Street Value started as a love letter to the buy-low, sell-high trading games of the 1980s and the calculator versions that got passed around school in the 90s. It keeps their spirit, a loan shark, a coat full of product and a city of fluctuating prices, and rebuilds it as a modern roguelite deckbuilder where every decision is a card.

The game is made by So-So-Games, a small independent studio. It's balance-tested with thousands of simulated runs per update, and four content updates have already shipped into the current build: Supply and Demand, The Crew, The City Fights Back, and Word on the Street.
